The power of the blogger
As stated in The Monitor, "the top dog in the Edinburg blogosphere is undoubtedly 'Earn My Vote' — whose identity vexes his or her cyber-enemies as much as fans who simply refer to said individual as 'Earn.'"
The article even points out to the clothing line on CafePress.com. "Earn" has even created a clothing line on CafePress.com, selling T-shirts and women’s thongs printed with his handle. The phrase, "I am Earn My Vote," is also available, demonstrating "Earn’s" fun with the web-community’s fascination with the blog.
Mark Tremayne, a journalism professor at the University of Texas at Austin, says "many national influential bloggers who engage in actual reporting rather than opinion writing — which fuels the largest percentage of blogs — get hired on by the mainstream media, the credibility of which cannot afford to get scooped."
Do I hear anyone calling? :) Joking!

Earn, isn't most of what is found here based upon your opinion of candidates? Basically, what you do is state something which actually happened, and then you put your own personal spin on the matter, and that is what you call opinion.

Wow, what insight. I couldn't tell. By the way, do you ever read the newspaper??? Every article there is written based on facts with the writers interpretation of how they see it or choose to report it. The point is, that unlike other hack blog sites (ie. but if I could I have to comment that Rio Grande Valley Politics turned off it's anonymous comments when people started commenting on the corruption of Kino Flores. Sorry 12:43 but I agree with 9:36 to a certain extent. There are times when Earn gets it right, and backs his/her stuff well, and other times when it is so obviously spun to present his distorted view of an issue. What gets me, is that people eat the spin crap up and believe it for fact when if you brush off the BS (spin) you'll see there is really nothing there...just like The Paper.

1:02, I believe the reason why the Politicos disabled the anonymous comments has to do with the spam. If you noticed recently, they have had quite a bit of advertisers posting on their blog, and by disabling anonymous comments they have blocked those types of people from posting...unfortunately, this also includes everyone else.

A valuable service to the community? That is total bull shit. None of this is doing anything for our community. This is all based on fucking opinions of the various political sects which currenlty reside in Hidalgo County. I call them sects because that is what they are essentially. You're either for Ramon, The PClan, or for the rats in La Joya, and that is what all of this bullshit boils down to. I think that Earn and the other asses could put their minds to good use if they decided to focus on causes which could actually benefit the Hidalgo Community as a whole, if not a city or two. Have any of you ever walked the streets of Edinburg or any other city and smelled all the noxious fumes which are killing our environment and possilbly our childrens future, but yet no one gives a fuck about that. In stead, we have to read about the pot smoking, wife beating piece of shit Omar. Fine, but the asshole had already lost the race, so why waste time on that idiot. Also, look at all the prestine land which is being turned into dollar signs, which will eventually lead to pollution and shit that ain't good in the long run? God's creatures are quickly running out of room to lay their heads, but no one cares about that. Also, what about all the careless spending that is being done the the school board in Edinburg, and the city of Deadinburg, what about that? Find a cause, stick to it, and use your smarts for that, and not the main bull shit that you see here!

Can someone please tell me where in the hell Carolyn M. wrote that Earn was a "viable sourse of news" because I didn't read that anywhere in her arcticle? Actually, I belive that Carolyn did a great job pointing out that this blog is what it is: a medium used to state one's opinions. And, that was hit home with the interview she did with the professor from UT. And, what he stated was that "about 2 percent of the content on blogs contains actual reporting," and, as you can see, the percetage is less than that here. It was great that Carolyn pointed out Earn's disdain for Joe, which definitely portrays her for who she is: another joe with an opinion. Thank you Carolyn!

Please give me a break about Omar Guerrero. He did it to himself. He is where he is because of the decisions he made. I guess if Edinburg News took a page out of your book by reporting facts which are verifiable instead of the rumors, lies and other crap that they try to pass of as truth, they would have been noticed. It's really actually pretty funny. It seems that the writer of Edinburg News was either embarrassed or dumped by a memeber of the Palacios family and hasn't gotten over it. Let me give you a little piece of advice whoever you are. You may not have gotten over it, but I'm pretty sure they don't care.
